Trigger: Day 9

Word Count: 54,030

Summary of Events:
Spencer was surprised to be contacted by London about a package having arrived within a week of his sending the letter with his designs. It turned out that they'd sent him a package with some special high-tech shoe-fitting devices as well as a list of measurements they needed to make sure that the costume would fit him perfectly and comfortably . . .

Excerpt of the Day:
He placed his feet into the shoes — which were much too large for him in their current state — and bent over from the waist to press the buttons.
He watched with intrigue as the sides of the shoes slowly moved and undulated in a mildly unnerving fashion until he started to feel them touching his feet, including pushing up against his arches until, before too long, the shoes were comfortably close around his feet. He then spied the blinking light and carefully pulled his feet out. The light went off  and the shoes didn’t move.
Just to see, he slid his feet back into the shoes, and then back out again. They were perfectly fitted to his feet. Impressive. He wondered how it’d worked, and what they were going to put in there to determine the size of his feet. Would they put some sort of a rubber material in there to make fake versions of his feet?
He placed everything carefully back into the box except the measurement form he still needed to fill out and hid the box in the bottom left drawer of his desk.
They wanted a lot of measurements — not that he really blamed them — even lengths of inner and outer forearm, inner and outer upper arm, front and back leg.
The only problem was, he didn’t have a soft measuring tape in order to get all these measurements done. He usually got measured at the tailor’s.
On the form he also noticed a little note that said it was recommended he have someone help him. Well, then maybe he’d have to go to the tailor’s and get the tailor to measure him up, but to swear the tailor to secrecy about what he was doing.
He hid the form in a different drawer and put a reminder on his cell phone to remind him to first ascertain the tailor’s availability and then go in for a fitting so that he could get the information the CrimeWatch team needed to them in all due haste so things could get going.
That would wait until tomorrow. As for right now, he was going to bed; for once he would actually be beating Garland and Evangeline to doing so. He might even be asleep before they were.
